ANNUAL MEETING QUESTIONS
Below is another of
the questions raised during the Aqua
Water Annual Meeting.
The term "Political
Subdivision" is often used instead of
the longer term "Political Subdivision
of the State of Texas". A Political
Subdivision is a unit of government
created by the State to carry out
certain public functions, generally
within a specific territory. The word
subdivision is used to recognize that
all the above are government entities.
Examples of political subdivisions
within Texas are cities, river
authorities, school districts,
groundwater districts, municipal
districts, water control & improvement
districts, municipal utility districts,
water control & improvement districts,
and the like.
The Summer heat is
definitely here. The following article
has some good advice.
HEAT ILLNESSES AND
DEATH
More people in the
United States die from extreme heat
exposure than from hurricanes,
lightning, tornadoes, floods, and
earthquakes combined. Heat illnesses
include heat cramps and heat rash with
the more severe conditions of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke
(hyperthermia).
Air-conditioning is
the number one protective factor against
heat-related illness and death. In order
to protect themselves from heat-related
illnesses, people should:
• drink plenty of
hydrating fluids;
• stay indoors or in
an air-conditioned space;
• plan outdoor
activities for cooler parts of the day;
and
• take advantage of
special community or city activities
(air-conditioned community centers open
to the public, or public swimming pools
that extend their hours of operation).
American Water Works Association Water
Facts
Little leaks add up
in a hurry. A faucet drip or invisible
toilet leak that totals only two
tablespoons a minute comes to 15 gallons
a day. That’s 105 gallons a week and
5,460 wasted gallons of water a year.
Another way to look at a faucet leak is
that a single dripping faucet can waste
far more water in a single day than a
person needs for drinking in an entire
week. Please don’t wait to fix a drip.
UPDATE CORNER
The electronic meter
installation crews are working in Zone
4. The boxes on your bill, where you
write your new meter reading, will no
longer appear when your meter has been
changed.
